Chateau de Fonbel Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2001
Château de Fonbel is located in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. It belongs to the Vauthier family , owners of Châteaux Ausone and Moulin Saint-Georges. The vineyard covers 16 hectares, and the vines, around twenty years old, are cultivated on a sandy-gravelly terroir.
Owned by the Vauthier family since 1971, Château de Fonbel has received special attention and serves as an experimental garden for Château Ausone. The mosaic of soils, ranging from sandy-clay to gravel and sand, provides an ideal environment for producing a great Saint-Émilion. The wide variety of grape varieties is a distinctive feature of this estate, where every action in the vineyard and cellar benefits from the expertise and precision of the family’s teams.
