Stéphane Magnien represents the fourth generation of winemakers from this branch of the family. The youthful Magnien has Pinot Noir vines growing in some of the Côtes de Nuits’ most prized vineyards, including about a half a hectare in the Premier Cru Les Faconnières, which is literally a stone’s throw from the famous Grand Cru, Clos de la Roche.

Domaine Stéphane Magnien is a producer based in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis in the famed Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy. It makes a range of Pinot Noir-based wines from climats in Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin.

The domaine's most important holdings are in the grand cru sites of Clos Saint-Denis in Morey and Charmes-Chambertin in neighboring Gevrey. It also has parcels in four Morey-Saint-Denis premier cru vineyards – Les Gruenchers, Clos Baulet, Les Faconnières and Les Monts-Luisants.

Les Faconnières is a well-regarded Premier Cru climat of the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. The vineyard is one of several that run in a line below the Clos de la Roche and Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru climats just north of Morey itself. It is planted exclusively to Pinot Noir, making a medium-bodied wine with cherry flavors and structured tannins.
