Guillaume Quenard Coteau des Ducs Savoie Chignin Bergeron
Guillaume Quenard is the latest in a lineage of Savoie winemakers going back four generations. While continuing to assist his father in running the familial estate, A&M Quenard (who Roberson also import), he has set up his own project on neighbouring plots. Farming in a unique microclimate on the slopes of the Coteau de Torméry, these 50-year old Bergeron - the local name for Roussanne - vines achieve optimal ripeness in the cool climate and stony terroir. Fresh, fleshy and brisk, this wine sings of stone fruit with its concrete egg ageing adding excellent length and complexity.
On the nose, very mineral with aromas of poached pear, white peach, dry apple, lemongrass, and white pepper. On the palate, a delightful richness is belied by attractive touches of salinity, mineral freshness, and racy acidity, all supported by beautiful notes of bitters on the finish. Touches of almond and meadow flowers round out the palate. Harmonious.
