Le Piane Bianko 2023

Light-straw-yellow in color with green reflections. Full aromas of white flowers, honey, and apricot.  In the mouth it is fine, bright and elegant. The finish is clean, persistent and has a pleasant sapidity with almond and hawthorn notes.

One of the synonyms for that grape is Greco Novarese and locally it is referred to as Greco Bianco (It is not that grape though so it cannot be called that either). Playful use of the Greek alphabet makes the name appear to bianco yet, like a
harlequin, the truth can be spoken behind this foolish mask.

This wine is made from 100% Erbaluce. The grape is a rare varietal indigenous to Piedmont. We would pair it with a light onion-stuffed agnolotti, or potatoes au gratin with shaved black truffle or truffle oil. The wine is vinified whole cluster, and fermented at very low temperatures in large wood barrels and cement tanks. 10% of the juice sees a long maceration, adding slightly more fruit and texture to a usually acidic light bodied white. The wine's primary flavor profile is strong with gooseberry, honeydew, and white pepper. Enjoy this rare treat from Le Piane, a producer bringing back the once forgotten region of Boca.
